| Out of the Mouths of Babes
Abby is five years old and loves the ballet. Last Christmas, we went to
see the Nutcracker for the first time. She thought it was great!
This fall, she started kindergarten and has music instruction two times a
week. After school one day, Abby excitedly told me that she had learned a
new song and it was about the Land of the Sweets that Clara visits with
the Prince in the Nutcracker.
I said, "Really? Sing it to me!"
She began, "My country, 'tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty,
of thee icing..."
