Bernadine Sevy Back to school Party
We picked our colors first: Red for apples
and yellow for school pencils. Made a list of friends and cousins that we
wanted to invite and set the date. Then we made assignments.
Invitations were handcrafted
by Johanna and Rachel and included a poem on the front that Johanna
wrote:
School is fun,
School is great!
It’s a back to school bash,
So don’t be late!
Decorations: Balloons and streamers.
Here are some cake ideas:
- A ruler ( a 10 x 13 cake cut in half and
placed end to end, iced yellow and the details iced on in black)
- A Pencil (same construction as above,
ice like a pencil)
- A blackboard ( 10 x 13 cake, iced black
and then "written" on in various colors of icing)
- A Worm, for a reading worm (A 10 x 13
cut in half and placed end to end, ice appropriately)
- Cupcakes iced like apples. Add a gummy
worm for fun.
- Apple cake (a round cake decorated like
an apple.)
Games:
- White elephant gift exchange using
school items, have each child bring one. The narrator tells a story
and each child hands their gift to the child on their right each time
the words "Back to school" are said
- Pin the pencil on the sharpener
- Pin the worm on the apple
- Scavenger hunt. If you have three teams,
have 3 of each school item. Give each team a paper bag and have them
go and hunt, they retrieve one of each item, leaving behind the items
they already have if they find them.
Party favors:
- Erasers
- Bookmarks
- Pencils
- Stickers
- Apple
- All in a brown paper bag!
